Vision Exercises

Pendulum BallPendulum ballFirst, make a pendulum ball.

Option 1) We use tennis balls from the dollar store.  Using a long needle or a bait stringer, thread a string or fishing line through the ball.  Tie a knot at the end.

Option 2) Put a tennis ball in a stocking and tie a string around the end.

Use a marker to make a large dot on the bottom.  The dot makes it easier for a child to follow.  Say, “Watch the dot.”

You will then need to hang the ball somehow.  Use a hook in the ceiling, a wide doorjamb, or a beam in the basement or garage.

Watch the video below to see what to do with it.  Start with one minute for each direction and build up to two or three minutes in each direction.  Changes can start to happen in just a few days.  Usually three or four weeks is enough but kids with a lazy eye might needs a few months.
